Yesterday I decided to do a little shopping. I went to Ann Taylor Loft to find some of their great final sale items. If you don’t know by now, boutique stores like Ann Taylor and others offer amazing final sales to their customers before removing those items from the floor. Normally, I shop out of season to take advantage of those deals.
What does out of season mean?
Right before spring or summer I search the clearance racks for sweaters and jackets. This is the perfect time to find that $300.00 jacket you were eyeing all winter for $30.00. In the fall I pick up the last of the summer/ spring collections for pennies on the dollar. This technique keeps my clothing budget low but my closet full to capacity. lol
Don’t follow trends.
Don’t look for the latest trends when shopping out of season. The trick is to look classic not “Dated” when you wear your new finds next season. Search for quality fabrics in the winter season collections like wool, cashmere, and leather. On the flip side, search for silks, bamboos, and linens in the spring/summer collections. No matter what you find, make sure it matches your personal style. Don’t choose an item because it is cheap, choose an item because you can imagine yourself wearing it and loving the way you look.
Try it On!
Big No No’s…..when I lose 10 pounds ……..it will fit later……..if it doesn’t work I will just give it away…….it’s ok, I can’t beat the price. That is the wrong way to do this. With that mentality you will have a closet full of clothes that you can do absolutely nothing with. Instead try it on, make sure the fit is perfect, and remember you only want the items that are perfect for you.
Here is the receipt from my shopping trip yesterday:
